The entertainment for Centre Square 2008 is yet to be announced. Details from 2007 are below.

THE AFL is excited to announce that the internationally-acclaimed Melbourne rock band Jet will perform at the MCG on the last Saturday in September as part of the 2007 Toyota Grand Final celebrations. Jet will perform pre-match on the MCG, as well as providing post-match entertainment at Centre Square, the corporate hospitality village which will be established for the first time in 2007.

Formed in suburban Melbourne, Jet burst onto the world music scene in 2003 with their debut album Get Born. The album sold over 3.5 million copies and won many awards, including the 2003 MTV Music Award for Best Rock Video and six ARIA Awards in 2004. Jet’s second album, Shine On, was released last October and the band is currently touring in Europe. Jet’s members have split football allegiances - brothers Nic and Chris Cester are vehement Collingwood supporters while Mark Wilson and Cameron Muncey are passionate Geelong fans.

Jet's lead singer Nic Cester said: "We're thrilled to be playing at one of the greatest sporting events in the world. Growing up in Melbourne and following the footy all of our lives and getting to play at the Grand Final is every kid's dream. Of course we imagined that we'd be kicking the winning goal on the final siren, but playing a couple of our tunes to 100,000 people before the game itself is the musical equivalent.

"Somehow Jet have earned a reputation for enjoying a night out, so we're happy to add to that reputation and be part of the inaugural Centre Square post-match entertainment the AFL is putting on. We'll be asking for Dim Sims and footy franks on our rider for sure," Nic said.

Birtles Shorrock Goble to perform at Centre Square after the 2007 Toyota AFL Grand Final

The AFL is pleased to advise Birtles Shorrock Goble, the original members of the Little River Band, will perform at Centre Square after this year’s Toyota AFL Grand Final.  Fresh from their performances around the country with the Countdown Spectacular 2, BSG will support Melbourne band Jet.

The band is no stranger to Australian football, in fact lead singer Glenn Shorrock has followed the Sydney Swans for over 25 years. Glenn lived in Albert Park in the shadows of the Lakeside Oval and when the Little River Band drummer took to wearing a Swans jumper when performing, there was no turning back.

“I moved to Sydney around the same time the Swans did and I have watched their progress ever since. I’m very pleased they are up there with the main teams of the day. It has been a few good years,” Glenn said.  Glenn attended last year’s Grand Final where the Swans lost to the West Coast Eagles by a point and hopes for a reverse of fortune for the Swans this year.

One thing is certain; the entertainment at Centre Square will be a winner.

“People can expect to hear the original sound of the Little River band. We have a wealth of hits to call and we don’t hold back when we’re performing. It will be great,” Glenn said.

The Centre Square action kicks off in the morning with a panel featuring the biggest names in football, Neale Daniher, Kevin Sheedy, Mark Ricuitto and Matthew Lloyd, who will dissect the season and preview the big game.
